Sending us Your CV
This is often the first formal contact we have with prospective employees and just like being a Consultant, first impressions count. So remembering your CV is an advert for you, here's what we look for in a good one:
- Show us your experience, earlier education and qualifications. These are best presented in reverse chronological order;
- Make sure your CV is up to date; don't leave any unexplained gaps in the chronology of your experience and education;
- Emphasise your SAS skills, how you applied them and the benefit that brought. Tell us how you learn new skills, what resources you use to seek out the latest and greatest data step function or industry solutions from SAS Institute. If you're a graduate and have no previous SAS experience, tell us about the analytical tools or programming languages you have used, even if its Microsoft Excel!
- Summarise your achievements, however incidental or significant you think they are make sure you tell us. Consultants solve problems and deliver things; we look for people that are enthusiastic about what they have done and are going to do. Dont exaggerate the truth though; we do verify the important details!
- Keep it to a sensible length. Commentators suggest between two and three pages is about right and were certainly turned off by more information than we can digest;
- Provide us with two referees; at least one should be your current employer or current University lecturer (but obviously we won't contact them until we've spoken to you first!).
- Once you have written it, proof read it. Refer to SAS product names accurately and run the spelling and grammar checker. If you leave errors in something this important, we don't want you writing documentation or training courses for our customers!
- Finally; tell us about you. We work
hard, but we like to play hard too. So if you like a flutter
in the casinos of Monte Carlo, hike up Englands highest mountains
(both previously company events no less), or relax by reading and
writing poetry, then let us know.
