Managing SAS code within an organisation can be challenging, especially when trying to control access to most recent versions of SAS® programs. Stored processes provide us with an enterprise wide solution to this problem, enabling us to distribute the latest versions of programs for use in a variety of SAS 9 applications. Stored processes are easy enough to use out of the box but knowing how to customize their appearance and behavior requires a broader understanding of how they operate.

For small organisations, it is not always practical to deploy client-server technology for SAS® programming environment, due to the additional costs of IT infrastructure and resource/expertise. Often SAS is installed on individual PCs and data are accessed over the local area network. In this paper we describe the development and the implementation of a bespoke application for creating and managing the workflow and various SAS files in a small organisation.

Rich Handsome & Successful

This paper presents how a successful SAS/AF® application used by scientists and researchers was presented to users through a Windows application for usability and speed whilst retaining the robustness of the SAS® 9. SAS Integration Technologies was used to interface the tried and trusted algorithms to a bespoke application developed using Microsoft Visual Basic .NET. This created an interoperable and scalable environment for the current and future of the business.
